Spare the trees
The Christiania tricycle is the vehicle most sought after by Copenhagen thieves. Recently they have been resorting to sawing off trees to unshackle tricycles and whisk them off on a van. €1000 is the second hand value of a Christiania tricycle, and even the honest Danes often fall to the temptation of buying from shady “parents with overgrown children”. [The truth is that most people don't sell their Christiania when the children grow up, because by then it has become an indispensable family vehicle]
The Copenhagen Transport Department is launching a pilot project to improve overnight parking of the tricycles. Following an installation at the Danish Design Centre [above picture], a shelter shaped like a car and placed on a single car parking space will house four tricycles.
